World’s Largest StarBucks

You read correctly: At the time of its opening in 2017, it was the World’s Largest Starbucks, located in Shanghai. It has since been surpassed by one opened in Tokyo, Japan in early 2019. The foreign business climate is apparently better there. Since there are tons of dry statistics online about this store in Shanghai, I’ll keep it brief. However many sites don’t give the address so some strange reason – not sure how you’re supposed to visit it if you can’t find it. It’s located at: No.789 Nanjing West Road, Shanghai, China and occupies anywhere from 27,000 – 30,000 sq Continue Reading →

Drone-ing On

3D Printing has been fun, and it still is. I’ve started a little business that keeps things interesting printing things for clients – even though its not profitable at all. But it did get me interested in a new hobby: FPV Drone flying / racing. A long long time ago, in a life-time far away, I bought a real . The blade-span was at least a yard and it used some kind of highly toxic flammable fuel to run it (ah, those were the days). It was a beast and impossible to fly (at least for me). After crashing it Continue Reading →

3D Printing – Lessons Learned

So, I’ve been printing with my JG Aurora A3 printer for a just about a year now, and I’ve accumulated a few tips and tricks along the way that I thought I’d share. On top of that, some people over on Thingiverse (Anyone installed an auto-leveler?) actually read my first post on the Aurora A3(!) so I thought I’d give an update. Most of these are pretty generic to 3D Printers, so let’s just jump right in: PrintBite Toss Blue Tape out – Please! After buying and using PrintBite for the past 4 months, I will Never go back to blue Continue Reading →

My Own Great Firewall

Feeling “Exposed” ? All you need to do is Google “router vulnerability” and you’ll be greeted with countless articles on security holes in just about every major router (wireless or otherwise) that continually pop-up. If that’s not scary enough, dig a little deeper into how often (or not) these companies update the firmware on their routers to fix these vulnerabilities. Now ask yourself: When was the last time I even checked/updated my router’s firmware? Probably never. But routers are only half the picture. Now Google “modem vulnerability” and you get just as many articles on security holes in the hardware Continue Reading →

I Hate Windows 10 (A Rant)

First off, let me say that Windows 10 appears to be very stable. I’ve not yet had it crash and I’ve been running various PCs on it for almost a year now. But it has A LOT of very annoying issues that Windows 7 never had. And now, even after a year, none of them have been addressed by Microsoft. Update after update gets forced to my laptop and yet nothing seems to change. Windows 10 still looks and behaves just as badly as it did almost a year ago. I don’t know what Microsoft is doing on these updates, Continue Reading →
