Bionic Dog

Ok, I’m just goofing around here. I bought a new digital camera, a Nikon Coolpix S9700. One of the neat features is it can take super slow-mo video at 240 fps, or 1/8 speed. So, I turned it on Thor and this is the result. If your not a child of 70’s U.S. TV shows, you probably won’t get it. If you are, hope you get a chuckle out if it like I do!

Thor’s Days

Hello Faithful Followers! It has been a while since I’ve been able to post just about me. Seems I’ve been ‘no-thumbs’ in getting my Caretaker, Food, away from the keyboard long enough that I can write to you all. The past year here in Shanghai is quite a bit different than my life in the states. Yes, I still remember those times. We didn’t get any snow here last winter, and I’m told that’s very common. Have to admit, I miss those deep cold drifts. But on the upside, it has allowed me to venture out almost everyday, multiple times Continue Reading →

2014 Flower Show

Just last week the weather was nice, not too hot, not too cold, and a little overcast. It was perfect for going exploring outdoors and taking pictures. A few weeks earlier, the 2014 Flower Show at the Shanghai Botanical Gardens opened. Being it was a Friday, and most people were at work, and it had already been a while since it started, we figured that was the best time to go and miss the crowds. As for the crowds, we timed it just perfectly. For as we were arriving, all the elementary school children were boarding their field-trip buses to Continue Reading →

Urban Exploration

Soon after arriving in Shanghai early last year, I learned (the hard way) the importance of having a man-bag/purse…I lost my wallet! It was a bit hard getting used to at first, toting a purse around, macho as I am (ha), but the benefits quickly became apparent. There is lots of stuff one needs when wandering around the city and relying on my better half/very significant other to schelp it around for me was not exactly fair. So, after some hunting I found a very nice leather one made by a Chinese company, Victoria Cross, for 350¥. It was small/compact, Continue Reading →

Nietzsche Juice

So…someone we know, who’s name shall be withheld (but not me), is having issues with high blood pressure and clogged arteries. A jaunt around the internet by my brother-in-law came up with this Chinese home remedy for cardiovascular disease (translated from Chinese): Raw materials required: 1 cup lemon juice 1 cup ginger 1 cup garlic 1 cup apple cider vinegar Production methods: 1 peeled garlic, ginger, thinly slices into the juicer, blender or beaten into pulp, with a mesh compartment slag, twisted out of juice. 2 the garlic, ginger into the cooker, add lemon juice and apple cider vinegar, rolling fire, Continue Reading →
